About Me

My photo
My tremendously supportive husband & I have 3 wonderful children, 1 dog, 12 laying hens, 2 dairy goats, 3 bee hives, and a 2000 sq foot vegetable garden on a small 1/4 acre lot in the city. In the center of it all is our small 1,000 sq foot house purchased in 2008 as a foreclosure that we fully renovated to host our growing family, home school adventures, and small home business (CozyLeaf.com). We have a desire to learn a path to self sufficiency finding ways to be good stewards of the resources God has given us. We want to learn to live with less as we laydown roots to our little homestead.

Pumpkin Blossoms

Watermelon blossoms

Cute little watermelon :)

Some of the carrots were too close together so we thinned them out and had a pretty good handful of baby carrots...Henry was SO excitted!! He helped plant these seeds and has been super excitted about the carrots the whole time so now he is finally holding them and just cant contain himself :)

And with all this wonderful success from the garden I have to show you an utter failure!! Spinach! I have no idea what happened...but this is definately NOT successful spinach!

I keep trying to get a picture of the tomatoes, but it is literally impossible to get a picture of the cute little cherry tomatoes...because they get eaten SO fast! Henry and Addie love running out to the garden and checking for all the red tomatoes...then they eat them! If I dont beat them out to the garden all the tomatoes are gone! It really doesnt bother me because I know it is all really good for them ... but eventually I would love to get a picture of a red tomato :)

  2. Henry was really proud of himself! I think is was still slightly shocked that the tiny little seeds we put in the ground a couple months ago actually turned out to be carrots!! To be honest, all this gardening really shocks me sometimes too! It just goes to shows the majesty and awe of our Creator!!
